GOT7's Latest Single "Fly" Is SHAMELESS Plagiarism #BoycottGOT7

Enjoying GOT7's new music video? Well you shouldn't be, because I've discovered that "Fly" actually SHAMELESSLY ripped off the song "Rocketeer" by Far East Movement featuring Ryan Tedder:

EXACTLY the same, right?? What's that, you're not hearing it? Listen closer:

  • The word "fly" is repeated in the hooks of both songs
  • The verses consist of raps whilst shaky falsettos are used for the chorus
  • Both songs belong to the electronic genre
  • Both Far East Movement and GOT7 have Asian-American members
The above is iron-clad evidence that earattack, the producer of the song, has obviously committed the unforgivable crime of plagiarism, and for this they should be sued. Admittedly I'm not sure who produced "Rocketeer" so it might actually have been the same person but that takes effort and that's also not the point here!! The point is this shouldn't be buried by obnoxious iGOT7s

All I can say is I'm so, so disappointed in GOT7; I know that they didn't write or produce the song but just like SlyU they should be held accountable anyway. And no, I'm not accepting any excuses this time — none of this "parody" shit like with MAMAMOO!! My oppars have betrayed me and I'm disgusted; to think that Youngjae was one of my favourite idols! Not anymore, I'm never supporting that sly bastard again...

I hope, dear readers, you all recognise the injustice present here and join in boycotting everything GOT7: any and all products related to the group and their members, not just their FLIGHT LOG EP. This may seem harsh but these arrogant thugs need to learn a lesson, and it's up to us to teach them it. #BoycottGOT7 #FlopLog

  3. It is not really the same, they just have similar chord progressions... which are universal and should not be a reason to sue. And the chorus in Got7's "Fly", and Far East Movement's "Rocketeer", are not the same. They may sound similar, but technically speaking they are not. The chorus in Rocketeer is a quarter note on E, ascending to an eighth note to an F#, to quarter notes of G, D and back down to a sustained B.. In the Got7 Fly chorus, it is four quarter notes starting on E, ascending to a D, and descending to a C then B, then 2 eighth notes one on A, and the other on G, and landing on a quarter note G. Resulting to them sounding the same or similar to the ear, but it is not so.

This may have seemed like a whole bunch of nonsense, but it is correct. And yes I gladly took the time do figure this out myself, if you want I will provide a link to see the unfinished score.
& Both of these songs are awesome, but no need to sue, etc!

    2. The post is sarcastic, by the way.

  4. There may be similarities but I would not by any standards call it Plagiarism. There are still many differences in the songs.

Also, I think that it is just ridiculous to say that Got7 is plagiarizing someone else because they have an Asian/American member. Having someone in Got7 who is Asian American is not plagiarism. That's like saying that because Got7 and Black Pink both have members from Thailand that they are plagiarizing each other - or that because Jackson is Chinese and Exo also has Chinese members that Got7 is plagiarizing Exo. Mark being a Taiwanese/American has nothing to do with Plagiarism - and trying to suggest that it does is stretching really damn far.

Saying it's plagiarism because they both belong to the electric genre is also a far stretch. You can't say that someone plagiarized someone else just because the song is the same genre.

Also, whether you believe this or not, musicians are still people too. It's disrespectful to be insulting them. If anything you should say "I am ashamed that they did this, and I wish that they will apologize in the future. Until then I will boycott them" - rather than insulting the members. If they didn't make the song, and no one is pointing out similarities then they probably don't even know that their song is so alike to someone else's song. It's not them being 'sly bastard's if they don't even know to start with that it is very similar to someone else's song.

  5. You know... There's this thing called intertextuality.... find it out.... you can't totally call that plagiarism... it's inevitable to have 'similarities'... know the translation of the song and you would know it's NOT plagiarism.... just sayin'.... a super late reaction though

  6. Am I seriously the only one who got the point of this blog post?

  7. this blog post is trash. to state plagiarism, the two songs must have the same exact eight measures in both songs. But I don't see anything "exactly" same. this is NOT plagiarism.
