AOA "Short Hair"- MV Review

AOA have teamed up with Brave Brothers again for their latest single and first mini album "Short Hair". I'll admit I was pretty excited for this comeback since I've been following the group since shortly after their debut and in my opinion they've so far improved with each comeback. So with my hopes pretty high I dived straight into the video.

Fortunately, "Short Hair" easily met my expectations. The song itself is nothing new for the genre and Brave Brothers' influence is certainly felt, with its similarities to "Miniskirt" all too clear. Interestingly though, the song also seems to resemble AOA Black's "Moya" and the song manages to blend both together pretty well. Choa and Yuna carry the group vocally again and listeners will be singing along to the "oooh ooh ooowoo ooh oooh" towards the end of the chorus. This time Jimin's rap is half-sang and her nasally tone seems to have gone, which I'm sure many will actually approve of.  At first, I was slightly put off how how busy it sounded, there's a lot more going on than the teasers showed, but after a couple more listens that gripe quickly faded.

U wot m8.

The MV is bright and colourful, with cuts of each individual member dealing with problems at work, from Chanmi trying to fix a car to Hyejeong having to deal with a particularly picky passenger, to Mina mastering the elegant art of working an ice cream machine.

There there, Mina, you tried.
These scenes are interspersed with equally vibrant shots of the girls dancing wearing pink versions of their work uniforms outside Choa's salon or white air-hostess attire. The choreography focuses on their rear ends and legs yet again, but those who may be put off by this needn't worry as the humorous work scenes are shown more. The video's very well put together and creates a great balance of sexy and funny to match the cheerful tune of the song.

Overall the song is definitely a success for AOA and, judging by the very positive reaction received so far, have managed to find a way to appeal to all  their fans. Personally, I've already become hooked on it and it could well become my favourite songs of theirs yet. So applause all round as AOA will surely continue to rise with another brilliant song.
