Dal Shabet Save K-Pop With "Someone Like U"

K-pop's been in a sorry state recently: after a December stuffed with horrid winter-themed songs and snoozefest ballads, Dal Shabet, clearly horrified by the absolute slop that's sitting atop of Melon currently, have dropped the best song of 2016 five days into the year. Bless their hearts.

Red Velvet Show Us Something New With "Dumb Dumb"

We're almost halfway through the decade and we've seen hundreds of K-pop girl groups come and go, though arguably none have managed to make the same impact as the main stars of the second generation. However it's more obvious than ever that the veterans will very soon be stepping down, with even giants like Girls' Generation, Wonder Girls, and 2NE1 having to rely on their previous successes to stay at the very top, and it's time for someone else to take the throne.

"Hang on though, if no other girl groups have even come close to the top spot, who could take it?". And that's where, in a flurry of confetti and glitter, Red Velvet appear to claim their rightful place at the girl group throne with "Dumb Dumb".

MV Review- Got7 Get Positive in "Just Right"

K-pop's focus on visuals can be both a blessing and a curse to fans: on the one hand the flawless idols mean there's an endless amount of eye-candy, on the other it can be a little intimidating to be bombarded by such good-looking people, and it's all too easy to compare yourself to them. Enter Got7 with their new single "Just Right".

MV Review- Apink's "Remember" Is an Absolute Disaster

I could cry right now.

MV Review- KARA Shoot Straight Through My Heart With "Cupid"

It's clear that, even after being somewhat saved by Youngji, KARA cannot return to the lofty heights of their 2010-2012 days. Whilst "Mamma Mia" showed a much more energetic side to the group, this time they've done a slight shift towards a more sophisticated route whilst keeping that signature KARA sound with the excellent "Cupid".

MV Review- SNSD's "Catch Me If You Can" Is Different, But Is That Good?

Let's be honest, 2014 was a horrendous year for Girls' Generation; five dating "scandals" (including the absolute mess of Baekyeon), disappointing performance from both "Mr.Mr." and "Holler", and the departure of Jessica meant the invincible wall they had erected finally started to crumble (the fact that Girl's Day, Apink and SISTAR had been continuously pounding away since 2013 didn't help either). Now it's no secret that whilst they've more or less achieved a status of immortality similar to TVXQ!, their invincibility is at serious risk, and Girls' Generation needed something particularly outstanding to fend off the numerous rising girl groups that are desperate to snatch their throne (including junior label-mates Red Velvet). Many complained that the brilliant "Mr.Mr." was just too generic, and SM have seemingly retaliated by giving us something completely different... but it might just be the worst thing they could do.

MV Review- Red Velvet Continue To Confuse Everyone With "Automatic"

SM seem to be determined to confuse us as much as possible with Red Velvet, first they announced Yeri would be joining the group and now out of NOWHERE SM have decided to release an MV for "Automatic", which is an album track on their upcoming first album, "Ice Cream Cake". So far it's been rather ambiguous as to what Red Velvet's overall image would become as their previous singles "Happiness" and "Be Natural" were worlds apart in both sound and style. It's a good thing this is just a pre-release though, because "Automatic" does nothing to show what Red Velvet are really about.

MV Review- Rainbow's "Black Swan" Is Easily the Strangest Single This Year

Nineteen months. It has been nineteen months since Rainbow released "Rainbow Syndrome Part 2" and since then all we've had was the debut of sub-unit Rainbow Blaxx, who despite a solid mini album failed to compete with Girl's Day, AOA, or even Dal Shabet. After being overtaken even by rookie groups such as Red Velvet and MAMAMOO, it seemed all hope for Rainbow was long gone, and they'd be left to hang around the "borderline" tier forever. After a painfully long wait they've finally returned, but a lot of people have been sorely disappointed, and I'm not surprised, because "Black Swan" truly is a peculiar song, and I've had to rewrite this review twice because of it.

MV Review- AOA's "Like A Cat"

2014 has undoubtedly been AOA's time to shine and they've leapt up in popularity this year, though despite big success with Miniskirt and Short Hair many are reluctant to place them on the level of high tier groups. Not happy with this, the girls are back to prove these nay-sayers wrong with their new single and mini-album "Like A Cat".

MV Review- VIXX's "Error"

Last week VIXX returned with their second mini album "Error", and the eponymous title track is by far their strongest yet.

MV Review- Red Velvet's "Be Natural"

Red Velvet are here to give everyone a very nice distraction from the Luhan fiasco follow up single after ending their promotions for their bubbly debut song "Happiness", this time doing a complete 180 and doing a cover of the classic song from S.E.S.

MV Review- SISTAR's "I Swear"

It's been just over a month since SISTAR returned and stormed the digital charts with their mini album "Touch & Move". Now that the lead single "Touch My Body" has lost momentum other artists have overtook the top spot, namely Winner and their debut single which I couldn't be bothered to review. Not content with this, SISTAR are back to punish those who dared try overthrow them with "I Swear".

MV Review- Taemin's "Danger"

When I heard Taemin would be the first member of SHINee to make a solo debut, I'll admit I was a little confused. He may be the most well-rounded of the group but he still didn't strike me as an obvious choice, especially with Jonghyun in the group. Nevertheless, SHINee's maknae has certainly proved himself with "Danger".

MV Review- KARA's "Mamma Mia"

2013 was a frustrating year for me as a Kamilia. Disappointing sales, a ridiculous scandal and Nicole leaving the group was quite a big blow for me, and knowing that Jiyoung was also thinking of leaving was the final nail in the coffin. I wasn't even upset when Jiyoung and Nicole left, it just felt surreal. In fact it only really hit me when the first teaser for KARA Project was released, by which other girl groups such as AOA and Girl's Day had caught up on my bias list. When I first heard they were coming back I was honestly worried, but now they've returned I don't even know why.

MV Review- SECRET's "I'm In Love"

SECRET have had a rough ride recently: promotions for the fantastic "Talk That" were cut short by the car accident, Hyosung's Ilbe scandal resulted in quite a blow to their popularity and many were left disappointed by their last comeback "I Do I Do". Now SECRET are back with "I'm In Love", and when I say they're back I really mean it.

MV Review- SISTAR's "Touch My Body"

It's been over a year since SISTAR smashed the digital charts and bagged multiple music show wins with "Give It To Me" and now they're back with the summer song "Touch My Body".
